Apple working on new ‘Apple Studio Display’ with 7K resolution, report suggests

According to Filipe Espósito of 9to5Mac, who claims information from “sources acquainted with the topic,” Apple is apparently working on a new “Apple Studio Display” with a 7K resolution in addition to a new “Mac Studio,” which is characterised as a model that sits between the Mac mini and Mac Pro.

There are little details on the reported new display, but with a 7K resolution, it would have a better resolution than Apple’s existing Pro Panel XDR, making it unclear if the new display would replace the premium Pro Display XDR or be an addition to Apple’s array of freestanding displays.

The display is internally known by the codename J327, according to 9to5Mac. The same codename has reportedly been connected with a display that is currently being developed and has an A13 CPU embedded into it in the past.

Last year, Bloomberg said that Apple was developing an external display that would be less expensive than its high-end Pro Display XDR, which retails for $4,999.
