Apple closes some retail locations across U.S. and Canada due to rising COVID-19 cases

After reintroducing its mask requirement and store occupancy limitations on Tuesday, Apple has now temporarily shuttered three Apple Store retail locations throughout the United States and Canada due to an increase in COVID-19 instances.

According to Bloomberg, Apple has closed stores in Miami’s Brickell neighbourhood, Maryland’s Annapolis, and Ottawa’s Rideau Street after a rise in employee Covid-19 cases and exposures. However, the most notable closure was Apple’s Southlake Town Square retail store in Texas, which was shut down last week due to a COVID-19 outbreak among staff. According to NBC News, 22 positive cases among the store’s 151 team members have been reported.

The increase in new cases coincides with the Omicron strain’s quick dissemination, which experts say is happening in the lead-up to the holidays.
