Battery percentage indicator added to iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone XR, and iPhone 11 with iOS 16.1

With iOS 16.1, which is now available for download, Apple has added the battery percentage indicator to the iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone XR, and iPhone 11. It also expands Live Activities to third-party apps, introduces Clean Energy Charging to the iPhone in the US, adds support for iCloud Shared Photo Library, and does a number of other things.

Except for the iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone XR, and iPhone 11, which were left out of the functionality until now, Apple reintroduced the battery % indication back to iPhone with iOS 16. IPhones now display the battery percentage in the status bar.

As a result of the TrueDepth camera system taking up space in the status bar on the smaller devices, Apple had only ever shown users of the iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone XR, and iPhone 11 a visual representation of the battery level rather than an exact percentage. Users had to swipe down to open Control Center to view the percentage.

The iPhone will now display the remaining battery % in the status bar, with the colour of the percentage indicator changing dynamically depending on the user’s wallpaper and whether or not Low Power Mode is used or not.

How to see iPhone battery percentage in iOS 16
